Monday 9:30 AM Homework  April 29th, 2007

1) Weave, calling dog by name, clicking responses. Mix with drops followed by  deference protocol.

2) Trigger release game. Release to heel position.

3) Kick back stand, multiple reps. Use social
pressure by stepping toward dog to get him to back into the standing position.

a) Signal target for stand. Keep separate from
kick back. You are back chaining.

4) Get "roll over" under stimulus control.
Avoid touching or luring dog.

5) Teach dog to discriminate between "bow"
and "down"

May 7th

Analyze whether you're luring too much esp. with regard to heeling. There is no need to lure if effective attention getting tools have been conditioned (name response, hand touch
cues) Fade lures rapidly, rely more consistantly on markers.  Reinforcement that is carried on the handler should not be visible to the dog.

Monday 10:30 AM

Learn to think in terms of splitting rather than lumping. If you're having difficulty with on aspect of a behavior chain create a separate exercise to strengthen it. example : holding the bow position
until released-- spend time working on reinforcing the dog for waiting.
Saturday 10:00 AM Tricks

9/07

1) Call to heel. Using chair or wall as prop,
lure dog to heel position, mark position with c and t.
Repeat often.
2) Sit in front. Lure dog upward to the sitting position from a prone drop..c and t correct position.
Repeat often.
3) Spins to the left and right. Use chairs, as shown.

Week 1

1) deference protocol sit, -- must practice regularly
in different locations. Surround dog with food at every session.. Throw, or gently drop, food toys etc
near dog, reinforce moment dog decides to avoid distraction in deference to you.
2) Roll over-- use a lure at first , once dog anticipates the roll begin with holding lure.--
3) Bow-- lure to elbows, introduce "stay" concept.
Remove lure as dog holds position. Walk circles around dog.
4) Retrieve-- tether dog, teach dog to place object in
your hand as shown. swap objects frequently until
dog will lift ANYTHING to hand for a c and t.
Stop throwing toys etc while dog learns this step.

Week 2

1) Study "roll over" example, get behavior under
stimulus control (by verbal cue alone). Gradually
remove all luring, by first using cue, then waiting
for dog to offer roll over behavior. You may need to help the dog by using hints in the form of flashing the lure, then waiting while holding lure out of sight.
2) Continue with bow, using stay cue, walk circles around dog. Incorporate a release cue.
3) Continue with retrieve, dog should place object in hand for a c and t.
4) Begin crawl behavior by luring. Once dog has
behavior, hold lure further away, build distance by
delaying click. Work toward moving lure/reward out of sight.
5) Prayers--- backchain prayers by shaping dog to
lower head to floor while lying in prone position.
Get duration by delaying click as head is down.
Shape dog to sit close to wall or chair and put paws
up ( head between paws to follow at next class meeting)
